Additionally, in August of last year Congress passed, and the President signed, a budget for both this year and next year in the Budget Control Act of 2011. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation floating around regarding this issue, such as the incorrect statement that Congress has not passed a budget for the past three years. While Congress has not passed a non-binding budget resolution, the Budget Control Act is actually stronger than a traditional budget resolution because it was signed by President Obama and it has the force of law. This budget, which was passed in both the House and the Senate, set 10 years of spending caps and reduces the deficit by over $2 trillion. It gives small businesses and investors the certainty they need to create jobs and grow the economy.

I am beginning to understand more about things here on facebook. And I understand why you deleted that. I do however...find it unfortunate that the comment I made was not paid more attention to by some, because of it total relevance to what is happening in this world, and the lack of ...many...to be more concerned about the violence and the possible reasons behind it, and to make a real effort to find a reson to stop it....just so you know what comment I am referring to, I include it here...
----------------

YOU KNOW WHAT I THINK?...

"IN MY OPINION"...I THINK THAT PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD FROM ALL RELIGIONS NEED TO KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT, THAT "THE WORLD SECURITY AGENCIES"...THAT ARE THE RIGHT HAND OF THE "ILLUMINATI"....OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO LABEL THE POWER GROUP THAT IS TRYING TO CONTROL THE WORLD...ARE CAREFULLY AND SYSTEMATICALLY INFILTRATING ALL RELIGIONS AND POLITICAL POWER GROUPS AND INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO PROMOTE THE VIOLENCE AND DISTRUST IN THE WORLD FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPING THE TROUBLE SPOTS IN THE WORLD INTO A WORLD WAR....THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT WILL GAIN FROM THIS ARE THE VERY VERY RICH PEOPLE IN THAT "CONTROL GROUP".....AND THE ONLY THING THAT PEOPLE CAN DO TO STOP THIS...IS TO RECOGNIZE THAT THIS MAY BE TRUE....AND STOP THE VIOLENCE...AND NOT LET THEM CONTROL YOU "ALL" AND TAKE THE WORLD'S DESTINY INTO YOUR OWN HANDS BY NOT "BEING THE TOOL OF THE WORLD POWER GROUPS"....IF THIS MAKES ANY SENSE TO ANYONE...THEN SHARE THIS ALL OVER THE WORLD...PLEASE...IMMEDIATELY!!!!

And give it careful thought, and see that the power of choosing to love your neighbor, no matter where they are from, can change the world in a better and more powerful way then you can ever imagine.

on a related subject to what I previously wrote....I got this in my email yesterday I think....found it interesting...

-----------------------

"Dear Sir,

In reading a post on the wall of Senator Xxx Xxxx's wall it has come to our attention that you have a skewed view of who we, the Illuminati, are. We came to this country to escape religious persecution. We built this country to be a bastion of secular, scientific enlightenment. We have no interest in furthering the violence in this world, but shall defend our country against the incursions of the fanatic, whether Muslim, Christian, Jew, Hindu, or any other adherent to the outdated positions of superstition used to oppress the dignity of Humanity.

If you would see peace come to this world, you would do well to remember that this Republic is dedicated to furthering the Rights & Obligations of All humanity and eschew any attempted incursion by the adherents of religion."

I just dropped an email on the official White House contact page, telling them that I have for a while now been unable to leave comments on Barrack Obama's page, or the White House, or any other political organization, because I have been labeled as a spammer because of my fanatic commenting the other day with a comment that...was labeled as something to get people to think...and stop the violence around the world...they may not have agreed with it..@#@#...I am not sure I agree with it all, but it was designed to make all people think of a ways to stop the violence....

IT'S THE WHITE HOUSE...if anyone actually reads it, I AM THINKING THAT THEY HAVE THE CONNECTIONS TO GET MY SPAMMING LABEL REMOVED....OR ...to make me disappear all together....always thinking that is waiting around the corner...

but....as anyone can tell from the comments that I leave...I have no ill intent to anyone, and only encourage people around the world to seek positive non-violent actions to resolve our differences.

All the best to all....I have to pursue other activities the rest of day....hopefully I will still be on facebook tomorrow...and the next day...and so on

Hey Jeff,

I am writing you again, not because you have any obligation to help, because I am certainly not in your district, and no one seems to want to take a step for anyone any more, but because initially you simply sent me a message, about what I posted, and how it did not fit your parameters, and you are the ultimate professional as far as I can see, and I see so little of that in politics.

In a nut shell, I have been aparantly black listed, or put down as a spammer, on most political sites, because of the original comment that I posted, and you can see in the line of messages how I got to where I am at. I agree...the way I approached it was not a good way, and I am guilty of posting the same message on a lot of sites, both political, and others. Apparently, the only ones that reported me as a spammer, were the political ones.

As I stated to many, I am not interested in provoking violence, or even saying anything unkind to anyone, and I see so many thoughtless and foul comments on so many sites, but because they are one time events, they seem to be let go.

I would think that thoughtless, angry, rude comments of the nature that I have seen, would be more offensive, then someone who is so upsett by the violence that suddenly erupted, that he made an intense issue of publishing his thoughts, whether they be completely grounded or not, in an effort to make people all over the world think about reasons to not continue the violence.

This does not seem to be true.

This is what I have found since I went crazy and posted the same comment on so many Senators sites, and others, to promote thinking of peace:

There are a lot less published issues of violence because of the film that was released, although, that is not always the truth, as I know how controled the news networks are as far as the information the public receives. I dont know. Maybe I stopped WW3...talk about over estimating my importance.

Also, I have received a lot of comments and friend requests from seemingly peace seeking Muslims, because of my postings.

So far I have not confirmed any of the friend requests from the apparently Muslim people that are requesting me, as I seemingly already have a target on my back. Not something new to me, as I have had a very big mouth all my life, and have been in certain positions....like dating the ex-wife of the chief of police of Odessa, Ukraine once, and being the first American to personally appoligize to Nelson Mandella's personal aide, the morning after President Clinton anounced many years back, that he was cancelling the Vice Presidents trip to South Africa, because of the troubles we were having with Sadam Hussaine...and he stated that the South Africans had not been personall notified of the cancelling of the Vice Presidents trip yet, but he wanted to tell the American people.

I even gave his aide one of those 3dollar bills that were floating around with President Clinton's picture on it, for Mr. Mandella to autograph for me, but of course, I never got it back....it did however get a great deal of laughter from all of his white security gaurds.

back to my original points...

I have no intention of posting like I did again. I know the definition of spamming now, and I was just a very concerned person, that wanted to post something that would be seen by a lot of people around the world, and perhaps get some of them to stop being used....as I truly believe the intent of that movie was.....to do violent things and .... to just continue the violence around the world. I believe there is a better way.

I do not even know whether Senator Bingaman is Republican or Democrat, but I personally, like President Obama, and I am not being allowed to post on his site, which I have always posted positive remarks to, or to most any of the political sites, when I get almost always a positive remark from someone that read what I wrote, and want to give positive feed back to.

I have such a big mouth, that I went to what is apparently the White House website, and complained about this, and asked them to look into it, and see if I can be removed from the spammers list on face book. The political structure is obviously using facebook very intensely to promote themselves, as they have a great audience.

Like I said, I am just writing this to you, because of your professional nature, and I am asking if you will send this to Senator Bingaman, and knowing that my concerns and issue are not of great importance, considering all the other things that the political structure is dealing with.....am hoping that someone will spend a few moments....and send a polite request on my part...to most of the Senators on facebook, as I did get a way with the posting on a lot of sites, before I was blocked....to remove me from their spammers list.

I will not do tis again. But I felt an urge to say something to the offended people of the world about the violence and see if one man could maybe make a difference. In my mind...I was trying to do a good thing.

Thank you,

Ricky A. Rountree

Hi Michael. This is Bobby. Perhaps your boss' Facebook page should not be designed as a one-way mouthpiece. I see that the wall post section has been removed, making commenting on your posts the only possible recourse for voicing an opinion. Apparently, those opinions must only be relevant to the topics your staff has chosen. Otherwise, the senator clearly has no time for them. Not that my little rant will register, as your personal message was probably only copied and pasted from a spreadsheet saved on your desktop to be used on noncomplying annoyances like myself.

“Christ's Call to a Grace Way of Life”/Fr Alfred Delp , s.j. - Excerpts from the “Meditation of the Day” from the September 7th issue of the “Magnificat.”

“Without Thy grace. We elected to live gracelessly, we trusted solely to our own strength, were bound only by our own laws, surrendered to our own whims and followed our own instincts. On these foundations we built our new towers. We have lifted our voices and celebrated triumphs, we have marched, we have worked, we have boasted and saved and squandered. And the outcome? Precisely without Thy grace – a graceless life, a pitiless age, an age of inexorable fate, a time of horror and violence, of worthless life and senseless death. We ought not to be surprised that such a graceless life has translated itself into the kind of manifestation we are now enduring.-----Humanity ought never again to over-rate its capabilities or delude itself as we have done. Those who survive should take these lessons to heart and preach them with inspired zeal. The graceless way of living is presumptuous and leads to disaster. We are only truly human when we live in unity with God.”

If you have read the book “The Harbinger” this admonition should sound pretty familiar to you. We are all called to be “watchmen/women” and to try to “preach these lessons with “inspired zeal.””

Hi Leanne,
Thanks for the reminder, I do sometimes go a little over the top, especially when I've been singled out. I enjoy the privilege of participating in these discussions and I will be mindful of the rules.
When Nick Carter stopped by last week I asked about you, and he answered with: Leanne is one of the worlds "really good people", who works very hard for the senator. I've known Nick since he and my oldest son were in grammar school together, I respect Nick's opinion and will respect yours as well. Thanks for being there.

No worries, Vaughan! And really, thanks for participating-- it is very nice for Jeff and his staff to read what constituents are saying, and it's rewarding when New Mexicans carry these sorts of discussions out.

How cool that you know Nick! He, too, is one of the world's really good people, and also works very hard for Jeff : ) He's a great go-to tech guy for those of us who fluster when a computer goes haywire!

Hi Vaughan,

This is Leanne. We do like that you comment and hope you'll continue, but it is important to Jeff and to us that his facebook page remain a place of civil discourse. If you have a comment for another member of Congress, we hope you'll take the opportunity to make it known to that member, and give him or her a chance to respond.

Since we can't assume Rep. Pearce follows Jeff's page, we feel it would be disrespectful for us to allow discussion about him on Jeff's page.

What was untrue about my comment? Mr. Bingaman's net worth should be a matter of public record as he has to file paperwork revealing it. What is his net worth? Has he traded in energy stocks while serving on the energy committee? "… to anyone who’s read Bingaman’s financial disclosure reports[,] They show a man who entered the Senate in 1983 considerably less than a millionaire, inherited a Texaco oil and gas well in Gregg County, Texas, worth all of $15,000, and yet is retiring with investments worth $7 million to $20 million, and possibly as much as $50 million.

…[W]hy does the chairman of Energy and Natural Resources own substantial stock in General Electric, Arch Coal, and oil companies like Occidental, ExxonMobil, Chevron, and Concho Resources, among others? And mining giants Freeport McMoran, and Barrick Gold?

And why does a Finance Committee member own stock in Citigroup, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and many more?

And why does a member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee own stock in pharmaceuticals like Merck, Abbott Laboratories, startup research labs and many more?"

Leanne comments to a senator are part of his job to here from his constituants and when comments and questions about critical issues that face New Mexicans who he represents then the question to all citizens is what is he representing on our dime.

Hi Judy,

Thanks very much for commenting on Jeff's page-- we wanted to try to open a forum for New Mexicans to chat with us about events, and thanks to yourself and folks like you, we think we'll keep it up!

I do want to request that you not call out other fans disparagingly-- we're trying very hard to maintain the page so that everyone (even those who disagree with us) feels comfortable and "safe," digitally speaking. The back-and-forth is wonderful, but we are trying to keep it friendly so everyone comes back and we can consider all opinions.

Thanks very much, and have a great weekend!

Hi Judy,

This is Leanne; I moderate Sen. Bingaman's facebook page. I need to remind you to keep your comments polite and impersonal. We try to maintain a friendly tone on Jeff's page and in order to do that we need to ensure that people with all viewpoints can be heard.

This is the second email to remind you to keep it polite and impersonal. We look forward to your comments, but if you cannot follow our Comment Policy, we will block you from commenting.

You have singled out other commenters (Philip) in a taunting manner. You can certainly disagree with other people, but please be polite. We monitor this page and delete comments that attack any of our commenters, regardless of their political persuasion, in order to maintain a forum where all Jeff's constituents feel safe enough to write.

If you feel like someone's attacking you and their comments don't disappear, please reply on this email.

Philip's response to Orlando was (to my mind) a prime example to rightwing-out-of context editing and distortion (typical of Fox News and their ilk) of what Orlando said, I couldn't pass it up. Sorry if it offended you (everything he disagrees with offends Philip.)
Jeff Bingaman
October 5, 2010 at 1:34 am
You can respond to Philip politely. It is not my sensibilities that are a metric in this situation; I am a representative of Sen. Bingaman in this forum, and he has an obligation toward all New Mexicans. We believe this includes creating a facebook forum that is safe for everyone.

We have a clearly posted policy that prohibits abusive comments directed toward other commenters. You can state your point to Philip-- or any other commenter you feel is a rightwing-out-of-context distorter-- in a polite manner, and if you fail to do so, we will continue to delete your comments.

Hi Jose,

This is Leanne; I moderate Sen. Jeff Bingaman's facebook page. I deleted four of your comments from before because they violate our comments policy-- by trying to change the conversation and by dominating the thread.

We welcome comments from across the political spectrum, but they must abide by our policy or they will be deleted.

Well Leanne, did you tell the good senator any of the earth shattering news or did you let him worry about LeBron James' decision to leave ohio?

Listen Leanne, I am a disabled vet. I have anger problems, so I apologize for the comments I made. I understand now that the senator is not aware of the true issues at hand in the world. I thought that perhaps he wasn't interested in the people's needs, but he is. So for that I apologize again. But the senator does not see a lot of issues that people in my position see daily. If I got a petition together to pass a bill, how would i get it to the senate? If I can gather enough people here on facebook who would like to see a change in our society and agree with the validity of my arguments will Jeff Bingaman listen?
Jeff Bingaman

Jose,

Thanks for responding. Jeff is very focused on the needs and important issues that affect New Mexicans, but getting involved is definitely a way to help prioritize the issues you care about.

As for facebook, I can't speak on its efficacy-- there are many groups and fan pages for issues and organizations, but I don't know how effective those groups are in general. I do know that in our office, we tend to take personal constituent feedback very seriously-- when a constituent calls or writes in on his or her own, Jeff knows they feel very strongly (as opposed to some digital campaigns that compile many names but are easy to join). You could create a facebook group, but I can't guarantee any kind of action from it.

Instead, I would highly recommend contacting our office or reaching out to a local organization that shares your concerns about the particular issue. Having a group of concerned New Mexicans advocating a position can be powerful.

I am unsure what issue you're speaking about-- your comments on Jeff's public page were about immigration, but your email mentioned that you're a veteran. Both are significant.

First of all, thank you for your service. Leaving the military or active duty, or returning from combat, are enormous transitions, and we in Jeff’s office are grateful for your service. Even if your second email was not referencing veterans issues, we have constituent service representatives whose jobs are to assist veterans and military personnel. If you need help accessing VA education, health, or other benefits, please let me know and I am happy to put you in touch with those individuals (they may be one of two people, depending on where you are in the state). You've earned those benefits and we are here to help if you're having any difficulty navigating the VA or DOD.

If your concern was about immigration, as it was in your comments, I encourage you to call our office. Our D.C. number is 202.224.5521. We are hearing from a large number of New Mexicans about immigration now, and we will absolutely include your sentiments in our reports to Jeff detailing constituent feedback.

We did take your remark about being a disabled vet seriously. As you may know, we try to create a weekly question that generates an amount of feedback on a variety of things that may be serious (a recent question involved the Gulf oil spill and BP) or not-so-serious (NM food). Veterans issues are very serious to Jeff, and since New Mexico has so many active duty and retired military, and in light of your second email, we may pose a question in the near future about veterans issues.

We will, of course, NOT mention you personally, and you are at liberty to contribute or reveal as much or as little about your personal life as you'd like. We created the comments policy to outline boundaries so all of our commenters can feel "safe" writing on Jeff's fan wall. Your input on this topic would be extremely valuable and I do hope you will contribute. Again, everything would fall within our comments policy, but we try to keep it friendly.

Thanks again for your input, and let me know if there's anything else we can help out with.

Sincerely,
Leanne

Thank you Leanne, sorry again about blowing up it is just that the issues I am pertaining to affect a lot more than just new mexicans. Please do not repeat this to anyone: I have been thinking about my military service lately, and I can not bear to be affiliated with our government. Simply put, I believed the government and wanted to serve my nation. But one thing has bothered me about my military service. When we are sworn in, we swear or affirm that we will support and defend the constitution of the united states, from all enemies both foreign and domestic, and bear true faith and allegiance to the same (the Constitution). In the soldiers creed we serve the people of the united states and live the army values. What I can't grasp is how the Patriot Act (which is unconstitutional) has taken away so much of our political rights and yet no one in the military has noticed but me. If we are supposed to defend the constitution and the patriot act is still a valid law than that means we have failed to support and defend the constitution of the united states, from all enemies both foreign and unfortunately, DOMESTIC. So i can not deal with being in the military any more, I am depressed and I have PTSD and I am down here at the reserve unit in albuquerque and I can't take living a double life, one where i enforce the rules of the very people enslaving the citizens of this once great nation. Can I Please have the number to you guys? When I have a chance i will call you, i need to try and gather support for a second bill of rights, one that allows the people to have economic rights so that there is no longer an imbalance between the poor people (me) and those who are rich, seeing as how there is no middle class.

Oh, and about the immigration, In amendment 14 of the Constitution of the United States Of America, Section 3 states:

Section 3.
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Yet, Obama went ahead and sued the State of Arizona. And why did the do it?

“the Justice Department claims the federal government has “preeminent authority” on immigration enforcement and that the Arizona law “disrupts” that balance. It urges the U.S. District Court in Arizona to “preliminarily and permanently” prohibit the state from enforcing the law, which is scheduled to go into effect at the end of the month. (Fox)”

Here is a link from you tube showing Arizona Senator Kyl telling his supporters what Obama told him and the repricussions from his decision to sue Arizona.

Commenters on all sides of the political spectrum are held to the same comments policy, posted on Senator Bingaman's site. We do not delete posts of those who disagree with the senator's position because we believe facebook provides a forum for open and respectful debate.

Other commenters who disagree with your position have written equally offensive posts that have also been deleted. The 111th Congress is off to a busy and productive start, having already passed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act, the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act, and the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act ... not to mention the recovery act and the budget! We've only begun, though, and I'm looking forward to working on other important legislation, particularly about energy and healthcare.

But it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle, which is one reason I'm podcasting. My "U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman Weekly Podcast" will help you keep up with what's going on in Washington and New Mexico.

For those of you interested in something a little more in-depth, the "U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman PolicyCast" is a longer podcast focusing on specific policy areas. You can email policy questions to webcomments@bingaman.senate.gov; I might answer you directly in a future podcast!

I encourage you to sign up for either or both podcasts on iTunes, and keep in touch.

Sometimes things get heated on the comments section. I enjoy hearing what you think-- whether you agree with me or not-- here on facebook, but in an effort to make sure everyone feels comfortable posting comments, my new comments policy is effective immediately:

"U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman encourages public commentary and welcomes facebook comments as vital components of a public forum. Commenters are welcome to agree or disagree with Bingaman’s perspective or official actions, as well as discuss them with other participants.

As part of upkeep of this public forum, we reserve the right to monitor comments. We will not delete comments simply because their author disagrees with Senator Bingaman, his views or policies, or does not support his voting record.

However, the following kinds of comments are those we view as deleterious to this public forum, and will be deleted:

1. Comments that are threatening or abusive in any way to Senator Bingaman, his family or staff, or other facebook users. Please be aware that on the guidance of the U.S. Capitol Police, threats are reported to law enforcement.

2. Comments containing explicit or offensive language.

3. Posts that attempt to dominate a comment thread through repetition or bullying.

4. Comments whose only purpose can be to change the nature of the conversation.

We reserve the right to block any person consistently engaging in comments of this nature and to update this policy as needed.

Facebook comments are monitored and not viewed as official constituent contact. If you would like to receive an individual response, please contact my Washington office at 202.224.5521."

This is posted on my fan page under the 'Info' section. Thanks, and I look forward to reading more!
