What renewable energy tax credits are available to New Mexico businesses and families?

To incentivize Americans to adopt renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies, Congress has created a robust suite of tax credits and other incentives for homeowners, businesses, and builders.  Some examples are:

  • Home Improvement tax credit: available to taxpayers who own existing homes and have made energy efficient improvements, such as installing certain replacement windows.
  • Home builder tax credit: available to home builders who construct energy efficient homes, within certain qualifications.
  • Commercial building owners and designers: who improve at least heating and cooling systems to meet ASHRAE standards.
  • Solar, wind turbine, and other business tax credits: are available on qualified properties.
  • Tax credits for producers of renewable energy and biofuels.

summary for these renewable energy and energy efficiency tax incentives is available on my website.  I encourage New Mexicans to review this list to determine where federal assistance might be available to help you go green.
