Bingaman: New Mexico Receives Nearly $1 Million in Law Enforcement Grants Print Share

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman today announced that New Mexico will receive $914,352 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The grants were awarded as follows:

  • $300,000 for the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department to enforce underage drinking laws.
  • $ 359,961 to the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department to reduce juvenile delinquency.
  • $ 254,391 to the New Mexico Attorney General's office for personnel to investigate crimes against children, provide for training and increased forensic capacity, and increase efforts to work collaboratively with tribal law enforcement.

"These grants will be used to help keep New Mexico's children safe," Bingaman said. "It's an important investment in our state's young people."
