Bingaman: N.M. Airports Will Share $2.4 Million for Safety Improvements Print Share

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman today announced that New Mexico airports will share more than $2.4 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration.

"These federal grants will help ensure that New Mexico's airports are safe and highly maintained," Bingaman said.

  • $277,575 for Alamogordo-White Sands Regional Airport to improve drainage
  • $65,185 for Clayton Municipal Airport to construct a snow removal equipment building
  • $250,985 for Clovis Municipal Airport to complete the relocation of navigational aids
  • $308,145 for Fort Sumner Municipal Airport to rehabilitate a runway
  • $120,000 for Portales Municipal Airport to rehabilitate the apron
  • $186,532 for Santa Rosa Route 66 Airport to rehabilitate an existing runway
  • $697,810 for the Sierra Blanca Regional Airport to rehabilitate the existing apron pavement, to purchase Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting proximity suits for firefighters and for runway rehabilitation;
  • $125,000 for the Socorro Municipal Airport to rehabilitate the existing apron pavement and rehabilitate the airport beacon;
  • $260,378 for the Tucumcari Municipal Airport for the rehabilitation of taxiways needed to maintain structural integrity of the pavement.  The airport will also receive $156,302 to fund an airport master plan to assist in planning and future growth.
