Feds Release Bingaman-Secured Funding for New Mexico Transit Project Print Share

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has released $723,873 he secured for New Mexico Transit programs.

"This funding will help communities throughout our state continue to provide transportation services to New Mexicans," Bingaman said.

Funding will be used to help purchase buses and/or to construct bus facilities in New Mexico communities.  Below is a list of recipients and a description of projects.

  • $103,566 to help the City of Carlsbad replace one 12 passenger van, one 15 passenger van, purchase office equipment, a surveillance system, garage doors and radios;
  • $60,000 to help the City of Clovis replace a 16 passenger bus;
  • $57,120 to help the City of Hobbs replace one 16 passenger bus and projects;
  • $4,400 to help the Pueblo of Laguna purchase office and shop equipment and signs among other things;
  • $77,374 to help the Nanizhoozhi Center replace one passenger bus and to purchase on bus expansion and for radio equipment;
  • $95,600 to help the North Central Regional Transit District replace one 25 passenger bus;
  • $150,606 to help the Rio Metro Transit District replace two 14 passenger buses and one 15 passenger bus, signs, radios among other things;
  • $17,200 to help Roswell purchase surveillance and radio equipment, office equipment, and other needs;
  • $44,640 to help the Ruidoso Downs purchase one 13 passenger bus and radios;
  • $38,707 to help Socorro County purchase one 14 passenger bus expansion and bus benches;
  • $44,323 to help Zia Therapy in Alamogordo to replace one 13 passenger bus, purchase signs, surveillance equipment and office equipment;
  • $30,338 to help ZEE, Inc. at the Pueblo of Zuni replace ne 13 passenger van.
