Bingaman: Over $6.7 Million to Aid New Mexico's Homeless Print Share

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman announced today that 22 New Mexican organizations will share over $6.77 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Funds were awarded through HUD's Continuation of Care Homeless Assistance program, which provides funding for assistance to homeless persons, including transitional housing, permanent housing and a variety of support services.

"Community organizations throughout our state work to assist those most in need.  This funding will make it possible for them to continue their work to help address the serious problem of homelessness," Bingaman said.

The following organizations received were awarded funding:

  • Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless: $135,267
  • Barrett Foundation, Inc. : $213,556
  • Catholic Charities: $718,271
  • Catholic Charities of Gallup: $26,727
  • City of Albuquerque: $2.64 million
  • City of Las Cruces: $99,120
  • City of Santa Fe: $754,092
  • County of Sandoval: $228,576
  • Crossroads for Women: $304,774
  • Eastern Plains Housing Development Corporation: $128,880
  • Esperanza Shelter for Battered Families, Inc.: $94,500
  • Goodwill Industries of New Mexico: $114,866
  • Haven House, Inc.: $50,000
  • Village of Los Lunas: $183,348
  • S.A.F.E. House: $42,096
  • Saint Elizabeth Shelter Corporation: $72,713
  • San Juan County Partnership: $66,713
  • Socorro County Housing Authority: $95,916
  • St. Martin's Hospitality: $115,500
  • Supportive Housing Coalition of New Mexico: $198,001
  • Transitional Living Services, Inc.: $381,300
  • Valencia Shelter Services for Victims of Domestic Violence: $106,666
