Jeff Bingaman United States Senator from New Mexico

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman today announced that two New Mexico airports will receive funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to make improvements to their facilities and runways.

"Transportation infrastructure is a crucial element in helping to attract businesses and new jobs to every corner of our state. I am pleased that the federal government is making this important investment in our state," Bingaman said.

Funding was awarded to the following:

• Cavern City Air Terminal in Carlsbad - $114,000: Funding will be used to remark runway 03/21 to meet FAA standards.
• Grant County Airport in Silver City - $114,000: Funding will be used remark runway 08/26 to meet FAA standards.
• State of New Mexico - $95,000:  Funding will assist the State Aviation Division in the development of airport property maps at various general aviation airports throughout the state.
