National Museum of Women in the Arts

The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) is the only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to recognizing the contributions of women artists.

Tour Information

NMWA is located at the corner of New York Ave. and 13th St., two blocks north of the Metro Center subway stop. Hours for the Museum are: Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; on Sunday from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. The Museum is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.  A dmission for adults is $5, seniors 60 + is $3, students with id $3. NMWA members and youth 18 & under enter free.

Georgia O'Keefe Paintings

As a part of the permanent collection, the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) displays two works by New Mexico artist Georgia O'Keefe: Pear on a Plate, displayed on the third floor and Maple Tree, in the Floor Gallery. Ms. O'Keefe produced much of her life's work in Abiquiu, New Mexico, being inspired by both the landscape and the flora. Much of her life's work can be viewed at the Georgia O'Keefe Museum in Santa Fe.
