Weekly Update: Secure Rural Schools and Energy-Related News Print Share
U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman discusses several of the items on this week's agenda in his weekly update, including Secure Rural Schools (SRS) and Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) funding that he helped negotiate. New Mexico receives millions of dollars every year in SRS and PILT funding to compensate for national park and federal lands that cannot be taxed. Bingaman also discusses several energy-related items, including the Obama administrations streamlining the process for permitting electrical transmission lines, which will benefit southern New Mexico's SunZia.
