Weekly Update: Medicare Drug Savings Act Print Share

U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman details the Medicare Drug Savings Act of 2011, legislation he introduced this week with Senator Jay Rockefeller.  The measure would enable low-income individuals enrolled in Medicare to purchase prescription drugs at a discounted price.  This would save Medicare $112 billion over the next ten years, and is an obvious way to reduce the federal debt and strengthen Medicare.  The bill has been introduced to the Senate Finance Committee, of which Bingaman is a senior member.
