Weekly Update: Food Safety and Water Rights Print Share
U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman discusses the Food Safety Act and Claims Settlement Act, both passed by the Senate this week, in this update. The food safety bill would grant more authority to the Food and Drug Administration to ensure that the nation's food supply is safe, and has gone to the House of Representatives for consideration. The Claims Settlement Act resolves two long-running water disputes in New Mexico as well as funding the first part of the Navajo-Gallup pipeline. The bill is expected to be signed into law by President Obama soon.
